  • NVidia Driver Issues or Blender 2.82 Issues after new packages 2/14/20

Hey all.

I use Blender and up until yesterday I was able to use my NVidia GPU in order to render my art. But after our big repo update I haven't been able to render. I've tried Blender in the eopkg repo, but it won't let me select my NVidia GPU to render now. I also tried Blender in the Snap and Flathub repos with the same problem.

I can't tell if it's a driver issue or not. 🙁

Is anyone else encountering this?

These are my GPU specs:
Graphics: Device-1: NVIDIA GM200 [GeForce GTX TITAN X] driver: nvidia v: 440.59
Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.6 driver: nvidia resolution: 1920x1080~144Hz
OpenGL: renderer: GeForce GTX TITAN X/PCIe/SSE2 v: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 440.59

Blender 2.82 is not yet in the repository...

kyrios Yeah, we've got 2.81 in the repo, but even then it won't recognize my NVidia GPU for rendering. I had the option on 2.81 in the Snap version and that worked fine, but I don't recall if the version of Blender in the repo (though the same version) ever recognized my graphics card, whereas the Snap did.

Bhibb Our version of Blender is not built with CUDA support as we cannot legally redistribute the CUDA runtime. It goes against the terms of the EULA. The version of Blender provided as a Snap package is officially provided by Blender and they are allowed to redistribute CUDA along with their software per the same EULA. Makes perfect sense, right? >.<
