I'm thinking of trying to remove the Budgie desktop environment from my Solus installs as I use the Openbox window manager and the Tint2 panel as a desktop environment. Would it be possible to remove the Budgie desktop environment or would I lose functionality by doing so?

I was thinking of trying the removal via VirtualBox so that I could easily roll back if needed. However, if it's just not possible, it probably isn't worth my time attempting to do so.

It is possible but why bother, Budgie's disk usage is very minimal. It's not going to impact your use of OB/Tint2.

Also you'll have a backup in case you mess up OB/Tint2 configuration.

Why bother...because I'm not using it.

Backup...I've never messed up OB/Tint2 configuration to the point that I couldn't use either. I always have backups of prior configuration files.

Justin Messing OB/Tint2 combo to the point when it is so unusable you'd have to fall back on another DE would be one of the most impressive things I've seen someone do to a computer.

Justin That's why I use Google Drive, things don't disappear in the cloud, thus far anyway and I remember why I put my stuff.
