Yesterday I replaced the two monitors connected with my dev machine, and a new graphics card to drive them. The new monitors were a different aspect ratio, different refresh rate, and different resolution.

When I booted Solus Budgie, it was like I'd changed nothing. Everything just worked the first time I logged on.

On Windows, it was a different story. 😁 I had to load the enclosed disc and run new driver software just to get my right-hand monitor to show up. And you can probably imagine what the aspect ratio change (from 4/3 to 16/9) did to my desktop. I needed to manually rearrange all the scrambled launchers on the desktop, about a 30-minute job.

just as an info X11 doesn't like different resolutions unless they changed something in this regard

Girtablulu I'm using displays with different resolutions and it's working like a charm!

    eDP-1 connected 1920x1080+3840+120 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 293mm x 165mm
    DP-1-1 connected 1920x1200+1920+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 518mm x 324mm
    DP-1-2-8 connected primary 1920x1200+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 518mm x 324mm

To be clear, there wasn't a difference between the new monitors--they're identical. I meant they were different from the monitors they replaced. Solus needed no manual settings changes at all.

I just went through this with my win7 machine never had 2 monitors before Kinda liked it while it worked then i booted and everything was messed got online Had the exact same icon problems I get Upset and angry when software doesnt work..lol I decided I wasnt going drag and move Icons when there shouldnt have been a reason to need to do so About that time I deleted second monitor software and went back to my single dell 23 monitor on win7 about 1hour wasted oh well thats winders. Talking about windows not Solus
