Recently the WiFi icon in my system tray changed. Some numbers appeared in a small square below and to the right of the usual signal strength meter. Is there a way I can get rid of the numbers? I don't need this much information when I'm on my home WiFi network. It is distracting when the numbers change, and also when the blue background for the numbers changes to gray.
I wouldn't mind having a good WiFi utility available, one that measures signal strength and channel number of nearby WiFi hot spots. But that would be something I could turn on and off, not something that is always visible in the top panel.
