Lucien_Lachance I think this is because SolusDark is incomplete - there is no GTK SolusDark, so it falls back to Breeze (Dark).

An issue with KDE is that, if certain elements (e.g. fonts) in the KDE theme are changed, the equivalent elements in the GTK theme have to be changed by hand - they do not automatically change to reflect the KDE settings.

There are also KDE elements of SolusDark missing - e.g. no SDDM login screen or splash screen.

However, despite these flaws, SolusDark is an excellent start and the basics are there.

I really appreciate the attention to detail and sane defaults. I didn't feel the need to do a lot of tweaking after install. I tend to prefer Qogir icons, but that personal preference. Surfn Breeze Dark might be a nice addition to stand out from the crowd a bit.

Uniformity of Gtk app themes with SolusDark

Software Center in system tray?

@perstreperous Libreoffice

  • Draw is more powerful then kolorpaint
  • what do you mean with the cursor?
  • SolusSC are icons for the Softwarecenter, not an actual icon pack for Solus.
  • SDDM Login screen I do plan to do some changes but first I need to figure out how 🙂
  • and no splash screen, it slows down boot time

@livingsilver94

  • I agree with making Dolphion less fearsome but this seems to be more complicated
  • for Icons-only task manager I need to create a Solus panel, I use the default KDE one at the moment
  • ALT+TAB would need additional packages no support for this from Default KDE at the moment, but it seems we do get a different grid system for it in the future KDE Phab
  • ? good catch, gonna have a look into this

@Lucien_Lachance

  • Yea I know, but KDE just starts with better KDE support, so I probably going to use breeze-dark gtk theme at the moment

@sothis6881

  • Need to checkout if I can do this via a solus default panel design and gtk is planned from my side but no ETA, has no first prio

    Girtablulu Usually the cursor is the opposite colour to the theme. However, only breeze-cursor-theme (dark cursor theme) is installed by default. breeze-light-cursor-theme should be installed by default as well so that, when a dark theme is selected, a light cursor may be selected without having to do an install (and know what the light cursor theme is called).

    If you go to System Settings -> Windows Management -> Task Switcher and change visualization mode maybe what I mean becomes clearer to you.

    I've done a fresh install of Solus KDE 4.1 (was on budgie before). Here on the screenshot you can see that I can barely read filenames in code-oss in the "Open Folder" dialog window. I didn't notice this problem on budgie.

    @perstreperous Ah okay, yes makes sense

    @TheMooseIsLoose not happening here, even on a test iso. But this is an issue upstream and I know they added or planning to add code where windows will have a min size depending on the screen

    @logtom cannot reproduce this but I guess it depends that 4.1 still uses the breeze theme for gtk and not breeze-dark, can you go under systemsettings-->Application Styke-->Gnome/GTK and choose Breeze-Dark as a theme and check if this fixes it?

      It didn't work. I also did a reboot, just to be sure.
      Here are my current settings and you can still see the problem on this screenshot.

      if you have issues with a package phab task is the way to go not this post

        @logtom this has most likely to do with my default patches I done, which this post is about.
        Could you please create a new User and check if it still happens with the new user as well? Could be a config file which goes havok with it

        Maybe I'm the only one, but I'm missing a light "SolusLight" theme. Therefore I switched to Breeze for that.

        Why didn't vlc set the default media player in the plasma version?
