Screen tearing on firefox while i'm playing full screen youtube videos !! (Budgie)

N1X3L Yes i know , after enable layer acceleration on firefox and disabling unredirection is fixed but i don't know what impact would have on 3d gaming performance.

Firefox also had an unrelated tearing issue for myself (my system has hybrid graphics intel/nvidia) but you may want to give this a quick try. Just go type about:config in the URL navigation bar, hit enter, accept the risks and search for and set gfx.xrender.enabled to TRUE (the default is False so if it gives you any problems, just change it back to that). You may have to restart Firefox to see if the changes fix anything.

Try that one option above first, and if maybe the issue still persists I've seen this work around for others, but it did not work for myself. The above fix was all my system needed to work just fine. So, the second backup option is to search for and set layers.acceleration.force-enabled to TRUE. If any issues however, set to False which is the default for this option. Hope perhaps this works for ya! Cheers!\

Edit: some words, my fingers never type what I'm thinking :-P

chrisfromgreece I'm not sure it would have any affect, but I'm just an enthusiastic end user, and unqualified to speculate on such things. I admire your intrepitude and perseverance in doing any serious gaming on a distro. I love GNU/Linux, and use it for almost everything — except gaming. While not the fault of FOSS devs, GNU/Linux won't be a serious contender as a gaming platform for me, until implementing multi-display & SLI is both possible and relatively straightforward.

Scotty-Trees It's very likely you know something I don't, but gfx.xrender.enabled may not be advisable or needed. Here's where I was reading up on it.

N1X3L It's not necessarily that I know something you don't (I know about as much as Jon Snow), but being on Linux, sometimes you have to really tinker with troubleshooting, and do a lot of trial and error. Quickest fix for my Firefox issues regarding graphical inconsistencies was changing one integer value. Pretty simple and easy fix if you ask me, and that's enough for me since I don't see the issue any more and no other issues have popped up because of it.

            RE: Firefox
You don't need to worry about layers.acceleration.force-enabled anymore, the new way is enablinggfx.webrender.all

Never had an issue with it enabled.
