Problems updating and installing packages from software center !

sgvd I could make a simple application for installing multiple packages like synaptic or a terminal one like aptitude....
It is fairly easy for me to do that , of course i don't know where i can find the icons for the apps but without any icons only by name & description maybe it would be nice do you think ?
I like that Solus Os has the Monodevelop Package in the repositories cause i'm very used to it .
Solus Os is my favorite rolling release and compared to others is by far more stable and reliable that is the reason i decided using Solus Os and with snap,appimage,flatpak packages you can installed anything at all so you will not miss anything.

You can already install multiple packages at once via our package manager and when we rewrite the Software Center (a planned item), it'll have a system for installing multiple items at once.

Fantastic news! I've never enjoyed installing multiple packages one-at-a-time. I'd much rather select them all and click an "Apply" button. Solus just keeps getting better and better.

JoshStrobl Yes this is a feature that literally saves you time not to say hours ..... I will make a command line tool until then. I want to make a new installation on my ultrabook too do you think dd clone my pc's disk and then restore to the laptop and enlarge the partition will work ??

WetGeek probably better to click "install" on different packages while you're browsing around, and maybe get several progress bars/indicators at the bottom. seems a bit inefficient to wait until the end to actually start installing things

eopkg li | cut -d " " -f 1 | tr '\n' ' ' > ~/InstalledPackages

on the current PC and

sudo eopkg install $(cat ~/InstalledPackages)

on the new PC (after installing Solus & copying the file, of course) could help?

P.S.: I personally believe using dd could be quite tedious.

I'm not usually in that much of a hurry, but I'd wager you could still install them one-at-a-time even after the improvement, if you really want to.

bolofar yes this is a must for future installations i had that in mind , but my idea was about creating a little program to search packages select them add them in memory continue and after i selected everything i want i could start the installation.

elfprince It lists every package you have installed, which is generally pretty big. I have 1,228 packages installed.

Justin It seems to list all packages that came with the Solus and Budgie as well. I would prefer to have a list of the ones I personally installed. More useful imo. 😀

list-installed (li) - Print the list of all installed packages
list-available (la) - List available packages in the repositories

And no there is no command to list the packages you have personally installed because packages depends upon some other packages and have dependencies as well so if you want to have a working system you'd better have them all and have them up-to-date.

elfprince Best to have all the packages. It won't re-install things if you tell it to install something you already have so it'll just fill in the gaps.
