Harvey Just to be difficult. 😃...
Not at all 🙂 . To remain in archive theme:
zip
- classic compression utility. Coupled with unzip
for decompression.
But the first choice for Z is:
zim
- a full-fledged desktop (local) Wiki. An ideal tool to keep notes of any kind. Wiki pages may contain text, images, links to other pages, to local or remote files, to Internet resources. Text may be formatted. Pages are stored in hierarchical structure. A ton of plugins extends functionality. The best of Zim is that all pages are stored as plain text files in a single folder (with subfolders). Zim is perfectly portable - no conversion is needed to open them in any simple text editor, on any OS.
P and M are both good.
Edit: Oops, sorry, Zim is a GUI application, not a simple terminal command. Just can't live without it.
