How do I enable Esync with Lutris ?

Hello I'd like to know how to enable Esync to use it with Lutris. I entered that command line in the terminal (It was indicted as the first step in the tutorial): sudo /etc/security/limits.conf. But it didn't work. And then the tutorial says that after that I'm supposed to change username by my actual username in that file. So how do I do all of this please ? Thanks for your help

Right Click on a game in Lutris. Select

Configure

then go to the tab

Runner options

then

Enable Esync

Change the Limit and Edit:

/etc/security/limits.conf

at the bottom of it add

* hard nofile 1048576

use your username instead of the *

Edit:

/etc/systemd/system.conf

and add

DefaultLimitNOFILE=524288

Edit:

/etc/systemd/user.conf

and add

DefaultLimitNOFILE=524288

I am not sure if you need to edit all of them, IIRC someone said that you only need the first one to edit. But I didn't test it so far. I've all 3 edited, and it works for me.

You can check it with this command in the terminal:

ulimit -Hn

nodq I did that to be able to use the epic games store. But It refuses to open before being configured with the esync. So what am I supposed to do ? And how do I access those etc files please ?

Widraz So I assume, by "how" you mean, that you do not know how to use the terminal and edit files in general?

Open a terminal and use this:

sudo gedit /etc/security/limits.conf

repeat this for every file and edit it accordingly. If you really are that new to Linux in general. I really advise you, to read some basic usage guides for Linux. So that you at least know how to use simple things in the terminal at least.

nodq Thanks for your help. And yes I'm that new in Linux. I'm not used to use a terminal. Do you know where I could find a basic usage guide for Solus please? And I just tried the command line you gave me but the terminal put me that he's unable to find the command.

Do you use Solus with Budgie/Gnome? try using this instead:

sudo nano /etc/security/limits.conf

this will open the file in "nano" in the terminal. You need to know how to use it with the keyboard.

nodq Thank you so much for your help ! The nano command didn't appear in the lutris tutorial I think that's why it didn'y work. I'll try it at home and tell you what happens.
