RLFontan Hey guys what's up? I never use these software to store password, but i feel like now i need one. I see the Software Center of Solus have one called Enpass, but probably would be better to use a open source one right? Which one you guys recommend? Ty!
Harvey I use keepassx I like that you can require multiple methods of authentication if you want, such as password + keyfile (mine is on a usb drive) to access the password database. So knowing only 1 of the authentication methods gets you nothing.
RLFontan Hmm.. Bitwarden seems nice, but it's not availabe in Solus software center. So, its availabe in Appimage and Snap...
JoshStrobl Personally I use KeepassXC (it's just keepassx in our repo, but it's the community fork) and sync the kbdx file via Nextcloud.
SLmanDR Reference https://discuss.getsol.us/d/279-enpass-open-source-alternative KeepassXC is ready for an update to 2.4.1 for the repo. JoshStrobl Josh, I think I'm not understanding. Is keepassx dependent on mono install and the XC not dependent on mono? Not like I really know the difference but I thought mono is a "windows" thing and not required in linux. Can you shed some learning light on that subject please? Maybe we could eliminate one or the other app based on good info; less upkeep? Oh, one other thing - compatibility with the mobile side such as keepass2android and web storage of the database on for instance Tresorit for up&download / syncing is important issue too.
RLFontan Hmm, im trying to understand how de keepassXC works... i create a entry and then a put my passwords on the "notes" section?
JoshStrobl RLFontan No, you put your password in the two password fields. If you're generating a password when creating an entry then it'll fill both.
Solarmass Enpass is very nice though. It has nice modern UI + usability and features. Sadly its not open source 😕
Staudey I used to use Keepass on Windows, continued using it on Solus, but some months ago I switched to KeepassXC since it simply works better.
Nibb31 I use KeepassXC on Solus and Keepass2 on my Windows PC at work. They both sync over Nextcloud.
