I am running into an issue with installing Solus. My steps were as follows:
- Downloaded Solus file
- Wrote the downloaded file to a USB drive using rufus as ISO (not DD)
- Restarted my computer and entered BIOS
- In Bios I was able to go to Advanced Mode > Boot > Create Boot Option and add a path that was something like [usb device]/boot/kernal.efi
- Save and reset
- Boot from the usb device and file path I created above
- Solus loaded Successfully!
- I went to the OS installer and followed all of the typical instructions, but got to the end to partition the disk and delete everything and here is where the problem started.
- Error occurs that says something along the lines of the disk is currently in use and Solus is unable to update the disk, please restart and try again.
- Restarted to try again and now there are no boot options available.
I did some research and found that I should have chosen DD when writing the file to my USB drive in rufus. So I attempted to do that, but it still didn't work. I found if I disable the secure boot option in my BIOS I can choose my usb drive to boot from. However, when I try to do that it will tell me to remove media and select the right boot device. It will no longer give me the option to create a file path to boot from. If I have secure boot enabled, then that option does appear, but it says no file is available in the file system so I am unable to create any paths to boot from. I also cannot boot from my original device so now I am stuck only being able to access the BIOS on my computer. Any help or guidance would be tremendously helpful.
