will solus run on this pc?

my pc is very old core 2 duo e8500 cpu with 4gb ddr2 ram and radeon hd 5450 graphics card. will solus budgie run on it without slowdowns and freezing?

But as you can see GPU is nvidia so can't comment on that specific part, but my GPU is old.

bobo you can just plug'n play. I have a hd 5770 and no issues at all. I do not game though.

bobo I installed Solus Budgie on my brothers old PC with even weaker CPU than yours, it works great. Budgie is actually pretty light compared to how slick and modern it looks, it's almost at pair with Xfce 4.14 regarding memory usage.

Harvey i just need gpu to show picture and play sound through hdmi cable, no fancy games. going with dbarron advice, will update you after.

Can't comment on AMD GPUs, have not had one since... ATI 4770

Vega 56/64 cards are apparently great, plug and go. But its only from what I have heard others say.

And I can say about my experience with such an old GPU - recently I had to resort to my old HD 4850 (my main R9 280X was hanging all the time - seems it was a bug in the kernel specific to GCN 1.x cards that got fixed later) and Solus Budgie was running fast with this ancient GPU.

Yeah you shouldn’t have any issues running Solus on that machine. I used a similarly powerful core 2 duo machine with almost the same old AMD gpu without any issues at all really...
