JoshStrobl Do you expect to again at some point? I did follow the developments as Ikey left for other pursuits - but I think that it is basically a good idea to have some resources for purchasing equipment etc needed to maintain and develop your topnotch distro.
paulvg Yes, we do expect to accept donations down the road. As has been mentioned in the past, we want to ensure the money is going to a legal entity which is in charge of the daily operations and various logistics of Solus first, not only to put Solus in the best position it can but also eliminate those sorts of burdens on individual Core Team members. We have no intentions on accepting donations until that's the case, since we do not want to be put into another situation in the future where the funds are directly tied to a single individual.
JoshStrobl Good plan - I'll keep tabs on this and look forward to contributing again. Meanwhile, I'm loving v4 Budgie.
Excellent work!
Good Job, Solus 4.0 is good with Gnome desktop though its version is 3.28.2. Lets of hope upgrade to latest version is in pipeline with the Solus team. Integration to Software Centre for flatpak, Snap & AppImage and built upo sources like from github would be a good idea. System be better intelligent to handle different customer needs. The world is moving towards icon based systems like android like gui. I think Solus team should give it a thought in future to have a desktop like android or work closely or merge or team up with other teams to bring a standard gui desktop.

Already planned and we have a tasklist on our development tracker about it.

I don't really know what you're referring to about GitHub, but the plan is to support Flatpak and Snap in a future release of Software Center.

Ah - I did indeed mean solus 4.0
Just installed Solus 4.0 on my newest computer - ideaCentre 510A - and I'm loving it. Until now i've been happily using it on older 32bit computer(s), but NOW i'm really enjoying some premium performance. This particular computer was used for very specific software that was only available in windows - so I am able to opine on the performance difference between Solus 4.0 and Windows 10 on the same machine both in general responsiveness, and also using some cpu intensive software that is common to both (eg QGIS) - Solus smokes windows. Well, no big surprise there, but I mean it Really Really smokes it! Niiice. :-) Also, the caffeine mode app is a very nice touch imo.

Being linux user for several years on Redhat then gradually moved to different distros to find simple less noised and aesthetic distro. Solus 4.0 fills this gap, like Deepin and others but gradually got bloated. I like fedora but not vanilla gnome.
By the way Solus team is doing a good job; as a well wisher and new member in community to Solus. The distro need to take a marathon route to live up in this vast seas of distros. Good luck, marketing team and all.

+1000 I want a DESKTOP, not a tablet interface (+ you can use GNOME if you like this kind of thing)

No offense , Solus4 went kaboot after installation of DB browser for SQLite and even the login/logout become a nightmare to access of damn slowness. I fixed it after hard power off and uninstalled the application. So Solus4 do have its weaknesses,, a lot of hurrahs may not fit here. Then the system was again functional, i don't know what went wrong but wanted to bring this to community.
Have good day
dostana What's relation between the DB browser problem you faced and an android-like GUI ?
Also, if you experience such a problem it's always a good idea to look at the logs of the previous boot to see if you can find relevant error messages with sudo journalctl -b -1
and if the problem should remain to report it on the dev tracker so someone can have a look at it.

What ever so be solus went kaboot after installation? Now what's relation i don't know as a user my machine got into a snail speed. Then expeculated you guys are well versed with Solus budgie desktop so removed android-like GUI. I know you don't care what i'll be saying this nonsense but after removal of android-like GUI, my laptop never boot to solus desktop, a blank screen with prompt blinking.
dostana
It's practically impossible to understand what you're saying right now...
What "android-like GUI" did you remove and how ?
CorvusRuber
I'm talking practical, simply use software center to remove gnome desktop. If you were following previous thread then it kyrio mentioned Gnome desktop as android GUI. For a user, If one install 2 desktops and on login he can choose which desktop to login. I had being practically doing it to get a feeling of budgie that's old gnome2 style.
On uninstall or removal of any one desktop of the desktop. (Solus) to take over next available desktop from next reboot. And this has failed, so my system never recovered.
If you have solution, a fix then talk otherwise it just waste of time to explain oneself in different words. Chau
dostana
Budgie relies on the Gnome stack for a lot of its functionalities, so if you only had Gnome and Budgie installed and you removed Gnome (again: how ? I haven't found a way to remove in bulk a whole DE via Software center, so I guess that you removed the packages one by one...) you would have a less than usable system.
The solution ? Log in via terminal and rollback to a previous, stable and functional state
dostana To repair your Budgie DE. run this command in terminal
budgie-panel --reset --replace &
I believe the reason you have black screen at login is Budgie/Gnome use different login - slick-greeter/lightdm-gtk-greeter
