  • Nvidia x server not recognising my monitor's full resolution.

Hello all,
I've recently switched to Solus as, tbh, this was the only distro that recognises my new 2560x1080 monitor's resolution using the Nouveau driver. However, when I install the 340 Nvidia driver it fails to see the full res. The card is a gtx275 (which can display 2560x1080). I've done a lot of searching and this guys problem seems the closest fit but I'm having difficulty in replicating any of the steps provided. I've been using Linux for a few years now but I'm a bit rubbish at the command line side of things.
Thanks for reading and any help would be really appreciated. P.s This is slowly driving me crazy 4 days into trying to solve this 🙁

@remoof Removed your comment, how Arch does kernel drivers isn't really applicable to us and referencing dkms drivers in the AUR isn't helpful either. NVIDIA 340 supports the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 per https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/135161/en-us, not to mention it supports latest X.Org Server API:

GeForce 200 Series:
GeForce GTX 295, GeForce GTX 285, GeForce GTX 280, GeForce GTX 275, GeForce GTX 260, GeForce GTS 250, GeForce GTS 240, GeForce GT 230, GeForce GT 240, GeForce GT 220, GeForce G210, GeForce 210, GeForce 205

@Knick23 Is this something you're checking via the NVIDIA X Server Settings tool or via the Displays section in the respective settings application (such as GNOME Control Center)?

@JoshStrobl I thought it was similar across distros, sorry for spreading false information

JoshStrobl hi, yes, I'm trying to configure through the Nvidia x server though I've previously been trying to do through xrandr (using the modeling from cvt, though this wasn't working as, I believe, it was giving the wrong figures from my monitor. I tried using the edid figures with slightly better results but ultimately still failing). I've gone through a lot of posts relating to this situation and I feel the link I originally posted most closely mirrors my situation. I've tried to follow their solution but I think the process is slightly different for Solus. Fyi, I've come to really like this distribution and so I'm keen to make it work. I could just stick with nouveau driver but the screen tearing is terrible. Again, thank you for any help.
