How do I uninstall Minecraft ?

Hello everybody,

My little brother is a little bit annoying and wants the last updates of Minecraft.

So, to make him happy, I will install the Minecraft Snap package.

I installed Minecraft like this :

sudo tar xvf /opt/minecraft/Minecraft.tar.gz --strip=1 -C /opt/minecraft/
sudo rm /opt/minecraft/Minecraft.tar.gz

How can I uninstall it that way?

You have the correct Minecraft installed, you can manually change the version from the launcher menu. Unless he is talking about Minecraft Bedrock edition which is only available for Windows 10 on PC.

alan-g59 what does it link to? If you still want to remove it, you can do so with sudo rmdir /opt/minecraft and to delete the desktop entry type sudo rm /usr/share/applications/minecraft.desktop

alan-g59 Use the commands remoof provided. That'll remove the manually installed one and just use the snap.

@alan-g59 both of the snaps download the same launcher as used here
Another option would be to just remove minecraft as I posted earlier and just reinstall it the way you did before. If you decide to go with the snaps anyway, I would avoid the one that installs oracle java and use the openjdk fork of the snap instead
