[deleted] uhm i really love Budgie, but i want a lightest DE among 3 DE that Solus offer to user, and of course this is Mate, lightweight, stable, but a bit ancient and outdate package. I recently try out KDE Plasma in KDE Neon, it really cool, light and fast, i'm so sock because people conventionally say KDE Plasma almost heavy like Gnome, and i don't think so with Plasma 5, it's lightweight as hell compare with Ubuntu Gnome on my hardware, despite of it has many animation and effect. I straight forward eagly the final .iso of SOLUS PLASMA, i think it will be the best combination of an OS and a DE. Keeping the good work Solus Dev Team!

      kyrios Can Solus have a XFCE edition in some day sir? People using Linux confirm that XFCE is the best DE with stability and lightweight aspect. I also love this DE so much.

        dinhnam Actually the aim of my question is to determine is it's a global Solus issue, a global MATE issue or a specific issue to Solus MATE. I'm not trying to convince you to use another DE.

        MATE is perhaps "old school", but it's fully up-to-date and it's using GTK+3 now and almost fully migrated to python 3. The problems reported by @dinhnam all comes from gnome-system-tools which is one or perhaps the only gnome2 package that is still in the repository. I'l try to see if the coming days/weeks if I can find a way to get it back working but I fear it something beyong my skills.

            kyrios I tested Mint Mate, iBus works fine. But Mint... No thanks.

            I am using Solus Budgie and I am very happy with this distro. Just a small problem: the applet "Keyboard Layout" doesn't work with IBus. It doesn't show the different inputs. About Gnome, everything is great! But, like dinhnam , I want to install the lightest DE for my staff.

            Anyway, kyrios , thank you so much for your time and your help.

                  kyrios Thanks for your explain and effort to fix that. I know nothing is perfect, for now i am still happy with Solus Mate, smooth, light, stable OS.

                    kyrios Oh, really happy to hear that, this will make Solus Mate more complete. I am also testing Solus Plasma Edition, because i absolutely fall in love with KDE Plasma DE, super modern and lightweight, it work great on my machine, no problem after upgrade from 3.999 to 4.0. But one problem is known with typing Asian characters with Ibus or Fcitx in KDE/Qt app from using KDE Neon still happen in Solus KDE Plasma, so i can't type Vietnamese in KDE/Qt app like Dolphin, Kwrite, Kate...but Firefox and Libre Office work fine. What can i do to type Vietnamese with Ibus engine (as i can't find a way to install Fcitx in Solus repo) in KDE/Qt app? because i really love the set of KDE default app. I need your help, please!

                                kyrios Oh sorry sir, i have switched to Solus Plasma right after this post, so now i can't check if this bug is fixed. I'm sticking with KDE Plasma DE right now and i don't think i want to change my DE. I hope anyone using Mate can check the solution after the lastest updates for you, thanks for your work!
