CD ripping takes forever

I tried ripping a CD today, but it took forever. I tested several CDs in
Rhythmbox, SoundJuicer and Asunder. Here's a screenshot from SoundJuicer:

The only time it worked reasonably fast is when I checked
"Faster ripping (no error correction)" in Asunder. However, I would prefer using
error correction.

Any ideas?

I have a similar issue. Asunder on MATE is unreasonably slow

I fixed this issue by checking "Faster ripping (no error correction)".

I figured it would be good enough without it (I couldn't hear any
difference but it depends on CD-drive). I guess the error correction
algorithm (cdparanoia?) got hung up on an error it couldn't fix.
