Installing a 'JRE app'

Hello,

Is there a way to make an app that isn't available on the Software Center works? I need to use a computer aided translation tool, but I'm not sure if I could find something as efficient as OmegaT to do that. The download file is defined as "Linux with 64-bit JRE" though, so I'm not sure what that would bring within Solus (newbie level 0,5 here).

Can someone explain me if is that possible and how can I do it?

Download the file and uncompress it with tar -xjvf <filename>
There should be a README/INSTALL .txt file with further instructions in the uncompressed folder.

crneus, I managed to unpack the file on the folder that README told me, but I still stuck in running the main .jar file? 😅

How could I start it?

marcusvinicius if you're doing it from the command line, java -jar YourJar.jar runs Java .jar files.

OmegaT will now run on the OpenJDK Java implementation supplied with some Linux distributions, but some functions (such as the full set of command-line options) may not be available

Perhaps openjdk-8 could be an easier workaround ?

kyrios, Hm... so would it be better to open it with another command?

If I install openjdk-8 there is still no java available.
Thus I can not start any jar files :/
