Hello, does anyone knows how to install a clean Solus setup without a DE/WM ? Just command line .
What made me think of this is that we have in the repos budgie, gnome, mate, i3, bspwm, plasma ... and maybe others that I'm not aware of.
I wanted to install bspwm and tinker with it, but for some weird reason it always gets to the desktop and hangs there. So I thought If we have a kinda netinstall iso would be helpful for installing clean setup with chosen DE. I know, not really anything like Solus's mantra . an iso with DE/WM choice at setup will be good (like Antergos) but that's too much to ask.
Maybe if there is a script that helps compiling an iso from the repo? That would be nice too. Compile as you need and burn it
Command line only installation ? Or a script to build an ISO?
There is no netinstall / minimal ISO and the dev's are not going to make one this has been discussed before.
In addition to quote Bryan aka DataDrake:
We currently have Budgie, GNOME, and MATE Editions. We unofficially support i3 and have a Plasma Edition in development. We have no plans to support any other Desktop Environments now or in the future.
We have no plans to offer an i3 ISO at this time.
You used to be able to build your own ISO but people refused to listen to the rule about not distributing custom ISOs. So access to the tooling was restricted to team members.
man what a shame . So the only way that seems still exists is getting a clean install, remove all packages related to the installed DE then install what needed . Thanks for the replay though
Openbox is there as well...works well
i3 works great though
