infinitymdm EDIT: Same behavior with a brand new user. I can lock the screen, but can't unlock except through slick-greeter.

having variations of your problems: super key launches menu, all in one piece for me, but you can't type in it on opening. on arch I can't shut down from Budgie DE until I get to logout greeter page, far removed.

can confirm, but when you trigger it with cursor you can type.

I just mapped Super to open Run Dialog (App Launcher) instead 😎
I prefer this way.

keys to change volume work, but not Play/Pause and Next/Previous 🙁

brent That leaves every new window in any app opening extreme left (upper and lower) 0r extreme right (upper and lower); autoarrange can be on or off, same result; nothing is centered.

infinitymdm Encountered a new issue on login today. When I left the computer yesterday I locked it with Super + L. (The new lock screen looks great, btw). And this morning when I tried to log in, I was unable to do so. I kept getting "Login failed", even though the password appeared correct. I had to reboot in order to log in. After rebooting, subsequent tests (lock, try to log in) also gave the "login failed" error text next to the "Unlock" button.

I kinda like new lock-screen too. The old lock screen just turned off my monitor, new one doesn't do it (I don't have automatic timer to turn off display enabled). Not sure if I like old or new behavior.

I would prefer new lock-screen to be a bit darker since it's always on and maybe dim after 2 min so clock would be still visible. And cursor should hide too for clean look 🙂

Oh, haven't had a problem with login so far..
Maybe you were not on En input?

yeah it's minor. I'm used to opening it and you go w/out the extra step.

I have app launcher in Arch and that's kind of neat to have 'em all in front of you...love (loved) the simplicity of Brisk: thumb-tap superkey, type first letter of app, and off to races with no cursor edit: I hope they can bring that back to Budgie but if they can't it's ok we got choices for sure

Unfortunately, GTK3 + Wayland has some issues, especially around window focus. For instance, in the case of the Budgie menu, we call the Gtk.Widget.grab_focus() function on the search entry, and it just... doesn't. A lot of stuff like that was fixed in GTK 4, and never backported to GTK 3.

I've made changes to the budgie-desktop package to add a couple of patches, and add a missing dependency. People testing are recommended to re-install the budgie-desktop package.

sudo eopkg update-repo
sudo eopkg install --reinstall budgie-desktop

EbonJaeger raven window fit and raven exit seem to be fixed. you coulda done that yesterday though. thanks for staying on it

After reboot and logging in I thought I had the black screen(typical video driver issue) with just the cursor showing on a black screen, after a couple of minutes the desktop background showed(image) but no panel, right clicked worked but the content menu "Budgie Desktop Settings" option did not work, however "System Settings" did work, which then had me thinking that it must be missing a critical budgie package or something has crashed due to my X11 settings on the panel I had previously, Luckly I had my own wayland compatible application launcher binded to a keyboard shortcut and works perfectly, So for me its either a missing package(unlikely) or a critical package is crashing on startup, which would explain the time it took to show the desktop.

I followed his instructions to the tee and this didn't happen. I had X11 panel settings as well. That doesn't mean there wasn't a ton of variables between us.

looking at journalctl -b I noticed budgie panel crashed, I rebooted to see what would happen desktop background doesn't restore now, so its just a black screen, but my shortcut keys are working

yeah I think its one of the applets, specifically a custom applet I wrote in python for my air conditioner temperatures, a simple "budgie-panel --reset --replace &" got the panel back up and "Budgie Desktop Settings" is working now, but I can't set a desktop background through "System Settings", it does nothing and stays black. i'll reboot again and see if I can get the backgrounds working again. Then I will go through and see what issues I can find. This particular issue I am putting it down to self inflicted due to the custom budgie panel applet. but will come back and update this thread if its more than that or I don't get backgrounds working

Based on the logs, it looks like two applets are using different versions of libsoup, which cannot be done. I'm betting one of them is budgie-screenshot-applet, which should be manually uninstalled before updating from the testing repository. It uses the old version of libsoup, and has been dead for over 6 years, and will be properly deprecated once all of this is merged to the stable repository.

Thanks for the debugging of journalctl, I will make sure not to include that applet(screenshot) in the panel. I have rebooted and now the panel is working again after the reset, I did try and put applets back in, its seems "Weathershow" applet completly freezes the panel.
