Solus for MAO

Hello,

I'm trying to set up my Solus installation with Budgie for MAO. I just installed Ardour, and when it starts, it displays this window :

"WARNING: Your system has a limit for maximum amount of locked memory. This might cause Ardour to run out of memory before your system runs out of memory.

You can view the memory limit with 'ulimit -l', and it is normally controlled by /etc/security/limits.conf"

I cannot find the /etc/security/limits.conf file/folder. Where is it located? And how can I change the values as mentioned in the Ardour documentation to:

@audio - rtprio 95
@audio - memlock unlimited

You can just create the limits.conf in /etc/security/. The default location of the limits.conf file is /usr/share/defaults/etc/security/limits.conf which you can copy over to /etc/security/ and modify it there with the Ardour recommendations.

NOTE: If you have auto log-in setup then you'll have to log out and log back in at least once to have the settings in /etc/security/limits.conf applied for the session. This is due to Solus' use of PAM. This is if you are using native JACK. Given that Solus now uses pipewire look at my post here to get Ardour to work with pipewire-jack (pipewire's implementation of jack server).

I found the file in /usr/share/defaults/etc/security/limits.conf.

Ardour runs great on Solus !
