The last time I updated my Solus Mate laptop was the week 42, 2025 sync, almost 3 weeks ago, a week before Shannon repository was migrated to Polaris: https://discuss.getsol.us/d/12033-solus-update-post-for-week-42-2025
I have not yet used the Solus Mate transition tool to switch from Mate desktop to XFCE desktop.
Has anyone updated their Solus Mate install to this latest sync with the new Polaris repository?
I manage a laptop on which I installed Solus XFCE, I updated to this latest sync and things seemed to be fine. The time in the clock was 2 hours ahead and choosing my time zone wouldn't fix it. I had to choose an alternative time zone with my country code in a local language! Other than that, the Solus software centre stopped launching and I got the notification that Discover was the new software updater, and that I had been migrated to the new Polaris repository.
I also installed Solus XFCE on an old desktop with a spinning HDD. When I updated to this latest sync on the desktop computer, all updates installed fine, but after pressing Restart it didn't seem to come back on. I think I held down the power button to force it off completely. After turning it back on, Solus XFCE seemed slow, and Solus software centre still opened, and I didn't see the notification for new Polaris repository and new Discover software updater. In Discover I also didn't see Polaris shown as the repository in settings. I tried to update via terminal but it showed some error. Running eopkg check in terminal also showed some error.
Feels like this repository upgrade wasn't handled properly. Maybe there should have been better instructions about restarting or shutting down after that update. Or not interrupting the restart process?
If the desktop remains slow and laggy, I might have to reinstall Solus XFCE when Solus v4.8 is released in the future.
I have another old laptop with Solus Mate on it, I could try upgrading to the new Polaris repository and see if it still boots afterwards, but then I might lose some files I wanted to back up for myself.
And now I'm not sure if I should update to Polaris repository on my main laptop still running Solus Mate on the Shannon repository!
