brent banger To be frank had the same problem with Chromium and Brave with gpu acceleration, both crash on startup which must be a chrome bug. I never had a problem with Nouveau drivers (but I'm not a gamer). It's unusual that you do imo. Almost wondering if its symptomatic of something else i.e. memory stick, impaired ghz, graphics card (even if internal), mobo...it smells like hardware....but could also be a setting or a change you made that you forgot (describes some of my errors...) 2 cents
Harvey It all depends on the card, driver and what you are doing. If its an old card it doesn't surprise me at all. Software moves forward, driver support for old cards does not change, some things break.
banger Both machines GT 1030 and nouveau driver since Nvidia dropped support and rather than faff on each update with old Nvidia drivers I went for Nouveau. @brent unlikely to be hardware other than old cards. Brave was working fine then after an update I had to disable acceleration as it would crash on start up. As @Harvey says software moves on.
brent banger As @Harvey says software moves on. that would explain getting bit twice with different browsers. just curious did you try the sudo thing?
banger brent just curious did you try the sudo thing? Yes same result its not permissions its gpu acceleration.
banger I am liking Vivaldi so far no crashes and you can save a session with 32 tabs and 2 windows. Only downside is you cant import passwords only export. Suppose I could use a password manager. 😃
trinajstica banger You can import passwords. Focus on URL bar, press F2, type import, and you will see import from Applications and Files, select that, and here you can import things...
trinajstica To import passwords from .csv file: Type “vivaldi://password-manager/settings” into the Address field. In the Import passwords section, click on Select file. Choose the .csv file with your passwords. Click Open.
banger trinajstica To import passwords from .csv file: Brilliant the Import from Brave on the welcome screen says there was an error but this works well. Many thanks @trinajstica
