Even if we assume I spoke to tax agents or whatever expert you can think of. Should a tax audit occur, you have to prove what you are saying. When money and the government involved they will always try get their fucking grubby hands on it.
In Australia we had a robodebt scheme. Which was where people who were receiving government benefits received FALSE automated claims that they were breaking the law and demanded money which many people paid. Slight problem the claims were bullshit.
The only time I ever received a government payment was before graduating from college, I received a threatening letter saying I owed the Australian government thousands of dollars and was committing fraud. This was BEFORE the automated system.... "Our records show you are earning more money" Guess what? I was earning $0. To prove I wasn't lying I just had to show my tax return... You know the same thing they used to decide if I lied or not in the first place? After months of arguing, zero payments, in person visits to their offices which exceeded my legally entitled payments... and paper work I got a letter saying that their claims were rescinded and payments would continue as normal. No explanation of the error, no sorry... nothing.
For the record I was receiving $32 a fortnight (Every two weeks) in benefits which I did not want. I only wanted the government to pay for my college course which I was legally entitled to but that required me to also receive a government payment so they gave me more money I could not opt out of. Fucking stupid system.
If my point is not clear. Accepting cash is not easy.
