Mullvad Split-Tunneling

Has anyone else tried to use the split-tunneling feature in the mullvad app? Trying to use it through the GUI and i get the following error "Unable to launch selection. Please try again or send a problem report.".
When trying to use "mullvad-exclude" via the terminal i get the following:

Cannot set the cgroup
Caused by: Permission denied (os error 13)

Is it app from the Solus repo?
Have you tried to run it as root?

Solarmass It is in the solus repo and I haven't tried running it as root but it seems like that shouldn't be neccesary going off what @Original-Syn has said.

Interesting, yes, I just tested and I get the same error.
I then tried it on a lab system running EndeavourOS, and it works as expected.

Both instances are running under the same permissions, non-root.

The version on Solus is 2025.7 and the version on EndeavourOS is 2025.9. So it could certainly be something that is resolved in the newer versions, as they did some work with cgroup changes in .8.

I would suggest opening an issue at https://github.com/getsolus/packages/issues and provide the logs and such. Could mention there are newer version as well.

Original-Syn Thank you so much! Hearing that this works perfectly fine on Endeavour is interesting. I wonder if it's just something that's been fixed in a later version or if there's something else at play here. I'll go ahead and open an issue.

This is as far as I got a few years ago:

I had no idea where to put the last command to make it stick for a reboot.

riffer Does this fix it? I'm a bit wary of running commands without knowing what they do and would rather this be handled by someone more knowledgable than me and in a way that fixes it for all solus users.

I agree. I just don't have enough knowledge to go any farther.

I'd rather it worked out of the box. I know split tunneling works on the version from the Arch AUR that I use on Endeavour but I have no idea why or what the differences are from the Solus version.
