In Case You Missed ...
What people has been doing
@joebonrichie updated GNOME to 48.5. @Harvey has been busy this month, they updated KDE Plasma to 6.4.5, KDE Gear applications to 25.08.1, KDE Frameworks to 6.18.0 and Mesalib to 25.2.3.
Not one to be outdone, @EbonJaeger updated Niri to 25.08 and GStreamer has been updated to 1.26.5. As a part of this update, our GStreamer packages have been overhauled massively which hopefully bring easier maintainance. ypkg
, part of our packaging tools got new release at version 35.0.0.
@ReillyBrogan updated our linux kernels. Linux current is now at 6.16.5 and LTS kernel is now at 6.12.45. Linux current kernel is now using the scx-sched scheduler instead of BORE.
Hacktoberfest is here! It is an annual event that "encourages people to contribute to open source throughout October, while earning rewards. You can get cool badges! You can read more about it on our blogpost.
For the one curious about AerynOS journey, they just released a new blogpost.

We need more help to complete the Cleanup Crew tasks, as it has been a few months with little progress. Here are the tasks that still need to be done and their progress:

We need help updating localization for eopkg
. If you see that your native language is not translated, head over to Transifex and help us do it.
We are looking for help with web development, especially someone with Hugo experience.

- Join the Solus Packaging Room and Development Room on Matrix
- Read our documentation
- Submit your first Pull Request. We recommend doing any of the issues labeled as "Good first issue" in the respective repository.
- Follow the review process until your PR gets merged.
- Don't hesitate to ask any questions in our Matrix rooms.
