fwpd Error Installing Secure Boot Key

Axios Just rebooted into my Solus Plasma iso. Everything checked out fine. I ran a check and repair scan anyway, no faults were reported.

Discover is no longer showing the Microsoft Secure Boot Key as an available update for me.
It has done this a few times before. I will see what time and patience has for me.

@BuzzPCSOS soon know as it expires Sept/Oct 2025 and according to the internet you wont be able to boot with Secure Boot on. Workaround turn off Secure Boot in BIOS if that is the case. HTH

Kudos to anyone who has never had issues with Discover or Gnome Software, updates to software or firmware.

Firmware updates are known to sometimes have niggles like this due to issues with fwupd itself. Try running firmware updates via command line as brent suggested.

First run fwupdmgr refresh && fwupdmgr get-updates
That will update the metadata and fetch any updates available.

If you see there are updates available, then run fwupdmgr install and choose the number for the device that has an update available, if necessary.

If you continue to run into problems, I suggest searching through the bug reports for the fwupd project.

Indeed. I generally just don't use them for much, especially updating. Built an alias/function in Fish to do all the checks and updates instead across the package managers and firmware updates. It would be nice to get the graphical tools in a better place, especially for less technical users.

Updated the firmware to the latest version without an issue so I guess there is only Discover to blame now.
I have added the firmware update instruction to my Solus Update Script, so now I have the proper tools to fix my update issues the next time.

I'll be sad when our solid SC goes away. I wouldn't call Discover or Gnome Software even adequate replacements right now--feels like we are taking a step down somehow. Maybe I'll come around.
