OK, had to see what all this was about. I used Budgie and Plasma with Solus in the past... just never thought about Gnome. KaOS is on my other drive, but the omission of 32-bit libraries renders my Brother printer useless. Beautiful Plasma shell, though.
You folks are onto something. This is much easier on my aging eyes than Ubuntu. Gnome's advantages over Plasma includes apparent smoothness and a real working integration of Google services (KDE has NEVER gotten that right). Helps my work-related stuff. Dolphin is a better file manager, but that's not everything. Gnome's minimalism keeps my focus on work. Now that I figured out how to fully use Musescore/MuseHub I'm a happy camper.
Three extensions moved the needle to the point that Solus Gnome became my daily: Caffeine, Clipboard Indicator, and (most important) Tiling Shell.
