As some one that has only really got into Solus over the last year, but has been around Linux since its inception, I took a slow approach getting into Solus. I wanted to research and see how the community and devs interact and took a look at the git repo to see how it is run, how the releases are handled, etc. I looked through some of the growing pains they went through a few years back and looked beyond the surface and then at how they have handled things after. In my opinion, they have come out of all that in a more stable place and are set up well for what Solus is, a curated rolling distro.
I liked what I have seen to a point, that I even began helping/contributing on small things here and there. No, not part of the team, so don't think this is biased from that kind of standpoint. But as a community member who really has come to respect and like what they are seeing. I have not done that, beyond bug reports, for over a decade on a distro.
So tldr, I believe that Solus is set up well for the long term. Nothing is ever a given, obviously.
