I run that, and the terminal changed from raynec@ ~$ to >. And I paste the command again. It showed up this.

the modprobe?
I am just trying to eliminate an issue by doing this.
Just to comment if you are playing music and change pavucontrol those settings change on the fly.

Appears to me two states can cause that turning OFF and SUSPEND. (NOT 100% SURE) in reference to the Dummy ouput

Raynec You need to be in sudo mode to add that, so sudo echo "blacklist snd_soc_avs" >>/etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf. Again, reboot after checking that the file exists with that content. If sound still doesn't work after rebooting then delete that file (using sudo privileges). The Suspended state I also see on my laptop until I use the speakers for the first time. It then changes to Active. I suspect that yours is stuck in Suspended because the driver isn't working properly.

Ok yesterday I tested all that stuff thats the way it appeared to me on my machine.
But this morning I tested again and things are not that way and acting different.
Did shutdown last nite.

So since my results for some reason on my machine seem to vary or not be consistent.
I dont want lead down the wrong road.

Raynec OK, then you'll need to remove the blacklist configuration (sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf) and reboot. This will get you back to your initial problem, for which I am now out of ideas. Sorry!

Well bummer. Before you go through the hassle of reinstalling, I recommend trying your sound out with a live ISO. It's possible that the hardware is the thing that's broken.

If both headphones and speakers work with the live ISO, you know the hardware is good and the current software is the problem.

If the speakers don't work with a live ISO, then the hardware is the problem.

TraceyC What does live ISO mean? But anyways, I tried to run Linux Mint (Should I run Solus again? I don’t think the OS matters.) without installing, and, of course, no sound.
So that’s not the software problem? Or I should install Solus again? or anything else.
P.S. Yes, if Solus no longer works, I’m changing to Linux Mint. I’m trying to find the best OS that suits my old laptop.

Did you run the live Iso and did the Audio work properly?
If I understand right you did and no sound (if thats the case its hardware or bios issue on your computer)

You might try this and see what happens with sound.

So live iso is the system that I haven't installed and on my USB? I ran that and no audio.
I did what you mentioned, and no sound on Solus.
I'll try on Mint.
Edit: Backed from Mint, clearly no sound. Is BIOS issue something I could fix solely as I disbelief that my speaker has died.
I thought that even if my speaker has died, it will said something instead of only 'dummy output' in settings.

So you are correct.

I know this is prob not answer you want but if it was me I would try to restore it to original Os
and see what happens. (Maybe that would do something and be shortest path to try and get it working again
if Possible) But I get the feeling that may not be a so simple task

I am not up on chromebooks so if anyone else has any ideas we are all ears.

Edit: Me after trying 2 hours. It seems to be mission very-very-difficult (not impossible tho). But surely I don't want to do that. Probably save it to be the last resort, if we still have something to try.

Simply pushing the power button, or rebooting, does not remove the trickle charge that keeps the embedded controller (EC) running. A hard reset drops all power to the EC, so when the power comes back on it goes through a reinitialization. Since the EC controls the keyboard, touchpad, battery and all other on-board peripherals, performing this it can potentially fix a wide range of problems.

Does your Mic happen to work?

Axios Umm... Nope. At this point I gave up to install a recorder app, I went to a website that tests mic, and they said 'mic not detected.'
Also, I accidentally let it died again (trust me, pure coincident), and, nope, nothing back.
I feel that is a BIG problem, as I lost both audio input and output.
However, I had an idea just yesterday, and I tried to pair my another headset by Bluetooth, and there are sound!
At least, have a method to get sound...
Also, if that helps, I see ‘No Volume Label’ in booting panel (IDK what is that called, the where you choose ‘default boot’ and ‘boot options’)

I'm sorry you weren't able to get sound working with your speakers. I respect that you need to do what works for you. I'm glad that at least the speakers still work

As Axios pointed out, it can be very difficult to provide help over the Internet without seeing everything that's happening and having direct access to the system. Best of luck.

I try but sometimes without the hardware in front of a person its an uphill losing battle
especially on something like that.
Not sure How many ChromeOs converts we have in forum I dont think many.

But glad you got something to work.
