libxnvctrl-470xx not present in repos?

hi!
i have solus installed on an older system with a GTX 680. i already have the drivers installed, but while checking if the gpu metrics worked i get a message as clear as day:
i searched a bit and found out mangohud uses libxnvctrl-(driver version) to display those statistics, but they're nowhere to be found in the repo. is there a workaround? or a planned inclusion of such package?

secondgreatflood That seems to be part of nvidia-settings(?), which we currently do not package as a separate application from the driver(s), and it seems the one that comes with the proprietary driver does not include that library as its own file.

You can check. If you need the libXNVCtrl library, here’s how to compile it manually:

Clone the NVIDIA settings repository:

git clone --branch 470 https://github.com/NVIDIA/nvidia-settings.git
cd nvidia-settings/src/libXNVCtrl

Compile the static library (optional): make.
This produces libXNVCtrl.a (static lib), but many tools require the dynamic .so version.

To build the dynamic shared library:

gcc -fPIC -c NVCtrl.c -o NVCtrl.o
gcc -shared -o libXNVCtrl.so NVCtrl.o

Install the library to a system path:

sudo cp libXNVCtrl.so /usr/lib64/
sudo ldconfig

Verify the library is recognized:

ldconfig -p | grep XNVCtrl

If it doesn't work, remove it.

sudo rm /usr/lib64/libXNVCtrl.so
sudo ldconfig

Remove the source folder: ~/nvidia-settings

hi! i finally had the time to test this, i installed the required devels to build and moved the lib after everything was done, but when i try loading up vkcube with mangohud the statistics are still broken :c

bumping as this is rather bothersome since i really want to use solus . . . but without this lib its troublesome as i want to monitor my gpu's temperatures once in a while

there's 4 versions of [flatpak search mangohud] of this in flatpak. could be a bandaid if you absolutely have to have that hardware analysis program.

brent the problem is not with mangohud itself as that works just fine , the problem is since libxnvctrl-470xx is missing mangohud cannot display any statistics relating to the graphics card (eg. temperatures , very important !)

edit: unless the 470 is a plugin of the app?

brent 470 is not a plugin , its the last nvidia driver (nvidia-470) for Kepler (GTX 600 - 700) . it normally includes the aforementioned library (libxnvctrl-470xx) for the graphics card's sensor reading in software , but its missing in solus (as explained by Straudey at the very beginning of the post)

secondgreatflood got it and saw what Staudey said. I thought perhaps in the self-contained nature of a flatpak package it might import its own version (470xx) in the install. perhaps that was a misguided notion on my part.
