I already explained why it exists in Solus's repository. Solus is not an RPM distribution, we have our own package manager. We use rpm to assist in repackaging .rpm's into .eopkg when upstream only provide an .rpm for closed source software. We also repackage .deb's for the same reason.
But hey I am only a Solus staff member, what would I know?
Installing additional dependencies via rpm especially ones Solus may be using a different version of totally won't increase the risk of breaking things. You should listen to reddit.
