I can only speak for myself
I haven't had any of these programs on my computer or the ones I manage in the family since 1994. Neither on Linux nor on Windows. And I wouldn't have needed it and never.

Companies have to protect themselves differently when it comes to their employee laptops. But the use case is a whole different And now there are no simple antivirus programs there's a lot more to it That's what I understand that something needs to be done in this context.

You accomplish more by keeping the stuff off the computer in the first place.
That being said its to big a subject to go into here.

But a person has to do what he feels comfortable with Some people need protection they seem to be a magnet
for that stuff no matter what they do.

The old Clamav was crap! not sure about the new One.

brent i was able to get it installed on solus via the command rpm -ivh clamav.rpm for example. and it installed. then i installed clamtk(which is a gui frontend for it). then verified clamav was installed with clamscan --version in the terminal and it returned clamav 1.42 which is the latest one 2025 Jan

For the record rpm is not meant to be used on Solus like this. As the package description says:

The RPM Package Manager is provided in Solus to enable building RPM for RPM-based Linux distributions from Solus using tools like 'mock'. To build packages for Solus, use 'ypkg' and 'solbuild'.

In other words it is meant to be used to help package maintainers repackage things only provided as an RPM using our build tools to create an .eopkg as well for people who are packaging for distributions that do use RPM.

Using RPM to install packages on Solus is not supported and heavily discouraged, it can cause breakages for which Solus will not assist with.

Harvey your right but for this specific instance i had no issues with it installed thusfar. i actually installed idrive sync app. with the rpm as they did not have it in solus version it did say on the terminal solus is not supported but it worked fine for me

Harvey how come the idrive rpm worked when i installed via the terminal? i know i can compile from tar.gz for others or use flatpaks. even though its not supported rpm files

That is not how any Linux distribution works. They don't support .deb and .rpm and .eopkg and .stone etc. The package managers were never designed to work together and they never will be.

solus budgie actually runs very fast for me. fedora i would have to change to budgie layout

For many years now I have been running Linux only (Ubuntu first, then soon after Solus, hallelujah!) on my computers and I have never been assaulted by a single virus or online threat of any kind.
Switching from Windows to Linux was switching from virus-ridden hell and non-stop maintenance to peaceful heaven.
I would never ever go back again.
I wouldn't worry and relax, as alfisya said.

By the way: Why would you want to check rpm files on a Solus machine? ;-))))
