Shutdown issue since last update

Since I disconnected 2nd monitor (hdmi) I don't have a problem.

Current kernel was updated to 6.14.6. Users who had problem with shutdown, how it's working for you? (I haven't tested it yet)

The issue remain the same.

Reboot works fine

Shutdown do not work via UI the computer seems to shutdown, the screen shutdown but the computer stay running and can only be turned off via the power button.

Shutdown via the terminal mode ctrl + alt + f2 works

Well darn. There's some discussion about this issue in the KDE Matrix channels as well, so it doesn't seem to be distribution specific.

Sorry to reopen this thread, I face the shutdown issue in Solus Budgie and few other distros I checked. Windows shuts down the system without any issue.

I tried few bios settings too but nothing works. I have H61, i5 3450, 16GB, RX 550 4GB, SSD. Any fix I can follow now or still the issue not fixed?

Unfortunately, as mentioned above and in the issue that was opened on our tracker, the problem is in the kernel. In the upstream kernel issue report, you can see it's been fixed. This means that hopefully, the problem will be resolved when the kernel is updated (we're currently on 6.17.8-324.current for the current kernel).

This is a problem in the kernel code, that Solus cannot fix. If the problem is still happening after our kernels are updated, please let us know, in a new thread or bug report. Thanks.

Thank you, sorry to bring up this thread again. Temporarily can i switch from linux-current to linux-lts, will this help or whatever the version is we need to wait till we get the update?

fwiw: I had this problem in Budgie since two updates ago. Logging out then shutting down from that screen was the only thing that worked.
But now with a fresh install this problem is gone for me. Maybe factors outside of kernel or in conjunction with it?

You can certainly try switching to the LTS kernel to see if it works better as a workaround, sure.

Jason5 To add to @TraceyC answer. Make sure to also install the LTS variant of kernel module (including nvidia driver) you use, otherwise you might be greeted with unbootable system.

It's not directly related, but I've been using the LTS kernel for quite some time now because my HP laptop with Gnome doesn't always reliably wake from standby with the current kernel. With the LTS kernel, it has no problems. As I said, not directly, but indirectly...
