Newbie1 stekte yes the drive work. i was just taking Buzzpcsos advice just to check how healthly it was. But no big deal, it's working well.
Axios I keep a good collection of Winpe disks around of all flavors. But tell you the truth never had any NTFS issues yet on linux
Newbie1 Axios Thanks for input. The HD is working so everything is cool, was just curios on the general health of the drive.
BuzzPCSOS Newbie1 @Axios is entirely correct, some USB drive interfaces will let you check the SMART data but others don't. My main backup drive supports SMART but I also have another that does not. I have moved a suspect discs into an old laptop and booted from a Linux iso in order to be able to test drive health in the past. It helps to have a well stocked junk box. Depending on the fault Gnome Disks can fix some errors on NTFS drives but there are some that require Windows scandisk to be fixed. If you used scandisk to repair the external drive then the drive is probably ok providing the procedure completed without an error message.
Newbie1 BuzzPCSOS Yes, i am seeing this on another disk, a 1TB . The HD sentinel could check it but Smart can't and of course the 4TB nothing . Smart and HD sentinel can't check. Anyway appreciate the insight into these situations and Thanks.
