Appimage for the Software "Tahoma2D" not working

I just tested what you suggested. I deleted the folder, open the session with X11, extract the .tar.gz, tried to open Tahoma2D.appimage without moving the appimage file, and NOPE, still the same error. =X

I don't know what's happening, but... visibly, Wayland is not the problem for me... Or if it is, I don't know how it influences the software on X11 when I extract it from that session.

Akelun I just tested this on Solus Budgie worked without issue.

However does this look familiar

When I added plugins it broke,remove plugins and see if it starts may have to go through plugins and find the offending one and go from their.
Or it may be plugins in general for some reason
Other than that I would not know of a fix. (Out in left field for me)

Note: Not sure Opencv is proper maybe one Devs will respond. (Mine is installed tho but not where they want it)

But that's what is weird. It's really a basic appimage, no plugins.
I followed the instructions, I didn't install any plugin, I even tried to extract and open the appimage from a X11 session, I indeed have the same error message you received either because of Wayland or because of plugins, but it's an error message I receive by default, whatever I'm trying... ='(

I suppose maybe something, like a package I installed is not compatible with the software, or there is something else happening on my PC, and maybe reinstalling Solus would fix that, but I don't wish to do it. I already set up all my OS, all my DE settings, all my softwares, everything works PERFECTLY... except for that ONE software, and I don't understand why.

Akelun Interesting.
Well I got it to run without error (with plugins) but I wanted to see if I could duplicate it (deleted everything and started from scratch) now it crashes every time even the nightly build.
Which in my mind dont process correctly at this point. (it being an appimage)
When it was working only saw 2 dir it added in home folder.
Just some info not sure its of any use.
My only other advice would be see what there support says.

Have you tried the latest version ? has some crash fixes.

craigtoyoracer That was my first thought when it stopped working for me
and read the updates.
Its been broke now ever since I tried adding plugins even after deleting everything and new download.

craigtoyoracer It is the 1.5.2 version I downloaded, so, yeah. I tried it. =/

And the fact @Axios also experienced a broken application, I guess it's maybe not just my PC the problem. Maybe I should indeed contact the support team of the software.
I think I will do that. Thanks everyone who tried to help.

Of course, if there are other suggestion to fix the error, I'm interested. But for now, I think I will open a ticket and inform the team that the Appimage doesn't work for me and seems to be prone to break with time.

Dunno where my brain was it starts fine in terminal even with plugins but wont launch from nemo or
link.

Akelun Try this it worked for me used main menu made an entry for it and it launches
without issue.
Use this for menu (Exec = path/to/tahoma/Tahoma2d.AppImage -TAHOMA2DROOT path/to/tahoma/tahomastuff)
If you rename the appimage file to .zip you can extract the Icon to use in the menu entry
But do it in a folder that you can delete not the folder you are using then just copy icon to your working
dir.
It wont fix launching it from file manager but you have a working menu entry hopefully

Akelun I think it was having trouble finding its files on startup for some reason

Axios Yeah, that's what one of the user on my bug report on Tahoma thinks as well. He said, I quote:

"Seems like it doesn't know where Tahoma2D.AppImage was launched from so it cannot find the tahomastuff folder to launch properly. Usually the linux system sets the current working directory as the directory you launched it from, especially when launched from File Manager. Not sure why Solus would be different."

However, since it seems Tahoma2D worked for most of the people here... is that maybe MY installation of Solus who has a problem? Is it possible that I break something?

I mean, Blender and Krita always have worked both great as AppImage (well, not sure if Blender IS an AppImage, but it launches from a Folder as if it was)... So... that's curious there's something wrong for just ONE other AppImage... ^^'

Akelun I would think if thats the case more would be broke I run stuff from file manager all the time without issue.
Dont think its a Solus issue would be more widespread with stuff more like an appimage sandbox issue or something.
I think they know something is a issue or they wouldnt have stated keep all files in same directory.
Maybe they will straighten it out someday I think its a pretty small project at this point.
MY opinion is ditch appimage and do a flatpak think they would be far ahead.

Note: Na nothing broke on your system I have appimages all the time that dont launch usually I just trash em
so I tend to stay away from them unless its something I really need.
On the other hand flatpaks seem to be flawless so far.
