K9T33N A few questions.
Are you installing a UEFI or BIOS setup?
What version of Solus are you using? Plasma, Gnome, XFE or Budgie.
Are you intending on using a Swap partition.
As I understand it manually setting up the partitions for a BIOS setup is fairly straightforward but more hands on effort is required to set up partitions manually for a UEFI setup.
If running a UEFI machine; a cheaters method would be to do a stock Solus install. Boot again from the install media and use the partition manager to resize the /root
partition to about 5GB, then reallocate the unused space into a new partition called /home
. Reboot and install Solus again using "Install to this location" selecting /root
as the place to install to. All your user files should now save to /home
. This is not the correct way, but it works because I have used it. Some of these details might be a bit off as I am recalling from memory but the general method is valid.
I am sure that I should also mention the Solus Help Center which is probably where you should look for the official answer to your question.
Good luck with your installation. Solus is a great distro with a great community supporting it.
