plasma/wayland
recently ive noticed a fair bit of screen flickering. and im concerned my monitor might be dying.

this is particularly noticeable if viewing a picture or video full screen, especially when you pause the video.
today also the sddm login screen was extremely flickery.

what ive tried:
checked all cables and connections
booted plasma x11; slightly better
booted solus live gnome: no flickering
windows: no flickering

did some research and found some stuff about flickering and the 6.12 kernel
installed the lts kernel and booted it: no flickering. but lts is not a good option as it seems theres no virtualbox-lts ??

booted the current kernel again and theres no flickering...seems it comes and goes

should i order a new monitor?

Why? You said there's no flickering anymore

Lucien_Lachance it seems theres no virtualbox-lts

They don't label it LTS, but it does exist. It's just virtualbox, as opposed to virtualbox-current.

Lucien_Lachance it already sounds like you have tried some pretty major surgery to remove the flicker. Just wondering if you have tried running at different resolutions and refresh rates. A while back that was a successful fix for some integrated intel graphics cards so worth a try maybe.
