Hello all,
Wanted to install SOLUS, KDE plasma spin, latest. Downloaded the iso file , put on USB flash , and booted the live CD. Noticed that the clock is not displayed on the panel ... there is like a dark gape , when you press on it , show the calendar, but the clock is not showing on the panel !
Same happened on the VirtualBox. Downloaded another .iso file, thinking maybe something wrong with the ISO... , again, the SAME !!!
Yes, maybe because my monitor is HD , yes maybe I .... , yes ,can be added additional program / widget to display clock on the desktop ....
Just ask the people to check this issue - just start the LIVE CD of SOLUS KDE spin distro and check if I am wrong or not.
Wondering if the developers, after released the .iso file, someone of them, tested it 🙂)

Really wanted to use SOLUS OS , as a daily driver : can boot on Secure Boot UEFI BIOS ( well after you registered the MOK key - UBUNTU , FEDORA, DEBIAN 12 - not necessary this additional step ... ; KDE very customizable ( at least for me - I can put the Close/Minimize buttons on both sides of a window at the same time 🙂 , from Settings I can choose - ShutDown if the pc is not active after xxx Minutes-because I am old and often happened to fell asleep with my laptop on the belly 🙂) , put widgets on the panel for CPU temperature with visual alert for high temp ! and Network speed live indicator and some others tweaks ( these are possible because of KDE , not SOLUS ...., you can do these on any other KDE distro )

Everything good on SOLUS , except this clock problem on KDE panel ....

In the end , hoping that SOLUS distro is not collecting some background data from users ( as some YouTubers start to suggest this issue on the Linux Distro world ... not specifically for SOLUS ! ) , HAVE A NICE AND PROSPEROUS 2025 year !

justAfan Just ask the people to check this issue

    I cannot confirm this
However, I've been running my instance for a while and haven't installed it yet

justAfan In the end , hoping that SOLUS distro is not collecting some background data from users

    Would be new to me

justAfan I installed Solus Plasma 4.6 after downloading from the main website about two weeks ago without any clock issues. The iso is unchanged since 2024/10/14 when the 4.6 version was released and has been installed many times since.
Probably best to check that the version that you are using is not corrupt by testing the SHA256SUMS value using the instructions from the help centre.
Solus has many fans for good reason. I hope your issue can be resolved so that you too can enjoy this wonderful distro.

I made a video about it

I can confirm, in GNOME Boxes there also is no clock in the live session of the Plasma ISO.

In the end , hoping that SOLUS distro is not collecting some background data from users ( as some YouTubers start to suggest this issue on the Linux Distro world ... not specifically for SOLUS ! )

Solus didn't even collect basic download statistics for the longest time (and I'm unsure whether they do so now), so you'll be fine there ^^

justAfan Just want to check. This happens on physical hardware and also virtualbox, not only on virtualbox?

    Edit: Filed a bug report
