This is really a KDE issue, methinks.
When I use a desktop clock widget, like Nemayan, the date will not change on the next day unless I reboot.

  • Logging out/in does not help.
  • Changing the date in system settings has no effect.
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the widget works.

If anyone else has found a workaround I'd be much obliged.

If the default clock widgets don't change date until reboot, it's a KDE problem. If so, you can see if there's a bug report at the KDE bug tracker

If the default clock works but a third party widget like Nemayan does not, you'll need to report that to the widget developer.

Note that Nemayan is listed under Plasma 5 widgets and may not work properly with Plasma 6.

Working fine here. Maybe it's a locale-related issue?

TraceyC's comment makes sense; it's a plasma 5 widget. Scavaging for a suitable Plasma 6 one now.

    Quick update-
Come to learn that the clock widgets I was using ARE designed for Plasma 6 but don't update the date. Evidently this information does not get passed along in a manner that enables automatic updating unless you reboot or reinstall the widget to the desktop. Changing the date in System Settings does nothing.

Remember- these are clocks on the desktop, not the panel.

    Just another small KDE annoyance.
