Problems switching to NVIDIA drivers on Budgie 4.6 with GeForce GTX 1050

I have an NVIDIA 1050 card. I recently destroyed my Solus KDE installation I had for a year or so.
It happened when I installed the NVIDIA drivers using the Hardware Drivers tool.

I installed Solus again, this time Budgie, als KDE just wasn't as complete as the Budgie installation I had before.
And tried activating the Nvidia driver again. Again X (or wayland) would not start.
Now running Budgie and Nouveau.

Is there a way to get this running? And get it back working when the installation fails again?

Quite unlikely that a manual driver package installation will work if the Hardware Drivers utility doesn't.

Which issues are you talking about specifically?

If the system does not boot after installing nvidia, go to TTY (Ctrl+Alt+F2 or F3) and uninstall nvidia-glx-driver-current. Try with other drivers. Check "eopkg sr nvidia-

Staudey My system was fully up to date each of the times I tried it, but it just doesn't work.
When I installed Solus and tried to choose the Nvidia option at boot, Solus could not set the correct resolution.
One would expect the Hardware Drivers utility to just work.

There may be many reasons for a computer not working after installing the driver via DoFlicky. I wrote to you to check the capabilities of eopkg sr nvidia-. Currently :

nvidia-glx-driver-current - 560.35.03
nvidia-beta-driver-current - 565.57.01
nvidia-developer-driver-current - 550.40.80
nvidia-470-glx-driver-current - 470.256.02

You need to test. Just e.g. sudo eopkg it nvidia-470-glx-driver-current. If you have a black screen, go to TTY and uninstall this package, and after reboot it should be fine.
To play, you also need to install the 32-bit version of the driver.

Staudey I boot into a console. No graphic environment.

I wonder why the utility doesn't work. I never had issues the last few years except for the issues with the combination Wayland & Nvidia.
