How easy is it to get a Canon printer working

I am thinking of replacing my HP D1460 as it seems it has a problem coming out of power save. I have a D1560 on the way to test as the seller said untested. Would be a drop in replacement if it works.

But my friend has been selling Canon to me and I have spotted a TS3350 on the bay of plenty which has only printed 9 pages.

How easy is it to get this Canon printer working with Solus Plasma?

banger Any printer can be good or bad to setup up on Solus (just like any hardware for linux)
Just from what i have seen about printers from forum posts.

Didnt see it listed for in cups but if its driverless should work.

Axios plus I looked up the model at canon an an rpm is all they got for drivers.

Yes already looked in the cups list but not there. I have downloaded the source file from Canon and there is a ppd file for the TS3300 series.

I found Source and deb files. If its driver less then the ppd should do?

I'd love to see a tutorial for that it would solve a lot of headaches.

banger Mine used this driver which solus had
Canon UFR II/UFRII LT Printer Driver for Linux then I added the ppd and it worked.
I can only say about mine first canon I have had

Well I have ordered a Canon TS5350a Printer which will arrive next week so will probably need help getting it working on Solus. There isn't a PPD file for my printer in the Canon Linux source but there is one for the TS5300 and TS5380 so hopefully can use one of those.

banger Your Canon TS5350a is listed on OpenPrinting.org and apparently has AirPrint capability. So long as the Avahi service is running, and I believe it runs by default on Solus, it should be able to discover your printer on the network and print via IPP driverless printing.

I have a Brother MFC-J1010DW and right after I installed Solus (4.5 w/ Xfce) it immediately discovered my printer and installed it automatically for me using IPP. It prints perfectly. It even saw the option for duplexing and is able to give me ink level status. 👍

beevomit Good to know it should be here next week and I will probably try to configure it to attach to my router although I have ordered a USB cable.
