Solus 4.6 Convergence Released
- Edited
Depends on what happens once we can update the baselayout
package again.
You may end up in a situation where the file you edited does not get upgraded, because eopkg determines that you have edited it, and then goes on to just save new updates to a backup file name so you never see them.
labeled what benefit do you hope to gain from it
Since this is just a cosmetic issue it doesn`t bother me a wee bit.
Everything is running fine here.
Given that Engrampa has replaced file-roller in Budgie, is there a way to integrate it with nemo? Removing file-roller also removes nemo-fileroller, for example
I just want to say that i am always blown away by the level of polishness that Solus provides. Great work. I cannot wait for the XFCE (my DE of choice) to be out of Beta.
kwanbis I cannot wait for the XFCE (my DE of choice) to be out of Beta.
you will be disappointed. Nothing will change.
It is already as stable as if it were not a beta and the version as such will not change
Hi, I have a question related to Gnome Software. It always wants me to restart the computer to update the packages. It is quite annoying. Will this behavior change in future?
Mark12870 Possibly, but I don't know because I don't use Gnome, it's comparable to KDE Discover.
By default, it wants to restart the system after every update, whether it's necessary or not. You have to turn this off in the settings if you don't want it and use Discover.
So maybe do some research.
It's definitely not an eopkg setting. If it is, it comes from the Gnome Software Center.

Will start using it then.

AlphaElwedritsch It looks like there is not such an option for Gnome Software. :/
why is Solus so cool?
you guys need to explain this to me, it's not normal at all ... an OS should be buggy and quirky at some stage but not Solus, please fix that
Mark12870 It is upstream decision to make it this way. AFAIK, this is because of flatpak first and immutable priority they have that make gnome software require you to restart before applying updates. Flatpak updates does not require restart.
While this is understandably annoying, there is also a benefit. It avoid of the wonkiness (that might happen) when there is DE updates. You can also just use discover if you hate it too much.
We might get a third software center alternative, if its development matured. cough cosmic cough
