GPU / DIY Build Questions

I am making over a refurb, beefing it all up modestly on a pauper's budget $.

Going all SSD. Etc.

My only question so far is this. I want to use the old Nvidia GPU from my soon-to-be retired desktop. Theres a slot on the Lenovo MOBO.
So....my dumb question is....if you have a computer with integrated GPU what happens? Does Nvidia tell the bios "I'm in charge now" ? Or should the GeoForce card not work at all?

In most cases the discrete GPU will be used, depends on the BIOS and if the drivers will be found.
The best way ist to disable the iGPU in Bios to be sure.

the discrete is the non-native GPU so that's the GeForce...so it does indeed announce that "I'm in Charge Now" based on bios and circumstances. Thanks.

My bios barely mentions a GPU and it sure doesn't let me pick my own.
I forget who runs Barter Town sometimes. bios does..

EDIT: this joke is probably on me since I have always preferred the Nouveu or the proprietaty Nvidia. In Solus invidia always more trouble than it was worth plus the drivers for my card are deprecated and lastly I'm not a gamer (super tuxcart stuff at most).

If I'm happy with Nouveuas then it really wouldn't make any difference if I used integrated GPU or Discrete? Is that correct?

I am not up on video cards gaming and the works but if you have to run the nouveu drivers
not sure of the benefit of using the nvidia card as to just using the stock intel.
And save yourself issues. (I say that with a grain of salt sometimes intel can be picky to)

thank you that's what occurred to me. real possibility of introducing errors and I always used the open source drivers anyway.
You would love this M93p. It's tight. Has an old Intel I5 4570 which is dependable. Upgradable to a 4790. Those are cheap on ebay. the 16GB is upgradable to 32 and I'd be taking 2 8GB's from current rig so 24GB a truly oddball amt of Ram.
