We will always reserve the right to demote/deprecate something but that said our stated plans remain unchanged:
In the Solus 4.4 release post we announced our intention to deprecate the MATE Edition in favor of a new XFCE edition.
As this is the first release of the XFCE edition, there may be some rough edges, even with all the time taken to make the experience smooth. We are calling the 4.5 release of XFCE a beta release.

The beta tag being removed or not for 4.6 depends on the rest of the teams opinion on its current state. If staff still think there significant rough edges / oversights with this edition as provided by Solus the beta tag will remain until that changes.
I do not have anything to do with the XFCE edition so I have no idea on its current level of polish. The beta status on this edition simply informs users "here be dragons". If you have tried it and are happy with it, there is no reason you can not continue using it. There will be no reason to reinstall when 4.6 is released or XFCE edition comes out of beta.
