at this point I don't want to know but I wonder how much of this is real vs.gnome-disks
which says everything is dying all the time...
the text reads: "The drive found 241 bad sectors during its self test. There are 241 weak sectors found on the disk surface. They may be remapped any time in the later use of the disk. More information: https://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_case_weak_sectors.php It is recommended to examine the log of the disk regularly. All new problems found will be logged there."
12% means what? Cant be good😉.
So I can heal up the 241 bad sectors and be whole again? How? Or not? What does "remapped any time in the later use of the disk" mean? Like DD
'd out?
thanks gents for letting me eat was a long food-less day and hamburgers have made me happy
I am reading their link: "Because weak sectors may not indicate real failure of the hard disk drive, they are not counted as seriously as real bad sectors or other attributes / issues. Anyway, these should be noticed also because they can cause serious problems if they are located in the administrative areas of the hard disk drive (boot record, MFT, critical system files) and/or if the number of weak sectors is high."
