      The eopkg-ready file is a marker file, it is empty. Its presence indicates to the usr-merge script that eopkg is up to date enough to attempt the usr-merge without causing problems.

          Successful update on Plasma on physical machine and VM. VM opted in so usr-merge complete but physical machine still waiting.

          Did a test

          created /etc/sysconfig/usr-merge with USR_MERGE_CHANCE=256 on my stable system and I got merged now.

          Took the test route on my physical machine and all my machines are now merged (stable).

          This is the first time I've figured out a way to capture this image. Usually it disappears from my screen before I can do that.

          This is somehow associated with the KDE hibernation problem I've been fighting with. I preserved this image by taking a screen shot, then pasting it into a Telegram message.

          Then I loaded the usual applications into all the workspaces except for my browser, and hibernated the laptop. When I woke up the thing, everything worked perfectly for a change. Including this image, which is still available. (Gonna delete that message now, 'cause I have no intention to send it to anyone.)

          Part of this problem involves error messages that I haven't been able to capture because the computer is locked while they're displayed. They have something to do with a Plasma browser connection. I'll run though this again with my browser running, and copy the error message to a notepad manually.

            After almost 5 years installed in my PC and use for everything(work,gaming,entertainment etc), Solus has been great and rock solid. Very few issues easily fixed with help from you great people. Just to say thank you and keep up the great job that you do.

            Another data point: I tried to do that, but now I've hibernated the laptop and awakened it TWICE without a problelm, and WITH Vivaldi running in its workspace. So hibernating one time without the browser running seems to change the condition that causes the problem. Afterwards, hibernation seems to work as it should. Go figure!

              I think you meant to ask, "x11 or Wayland." That's a good point - this machine always runs Plasma, and it's used Wayland graphics since we first had them available.

              That's another test I should run: I'll start over from scratch and see what happens if I go back to x11. Thanks for the suggestion.

                  What happens is exactly the same thing that happens with Wayland, only a lot slower. And this time I was able to click on one of those images in the top panel and see what they say:

                  If anyone on the team is looking into this, I hope these experiments help. For now, I need to start over from a fresh shutdown, 'cause I have work to do that requires the browser.

                      Once again, I started all the applications except the browser in their workspaces, and hibernated. Upon wakeup, everything is working normally. I'm sure that if I hibernate again, a wakeup will once again work without error, and that's what I intend to do now for as long as I can. I.e., I'll hibernate this laptop every night, as usual, and see if I can keep it working without errors for the rest of the week.

                      Maybe the next sync will produce a pleasant surprise, and I won't need the work-around any more.

                          One last note on this: once again, I've proven that after the laptop has hibernated one time without a browser running, it behaves perfectly thereafter. So I'm going to continue as I proposed in a previous message. I'll just work all week as I'm accustomed to doing, and hibernate this laptop every night.

                          Whatever the root cause of this problem is, this process appears to fix it until after the next complete shutdown.

                              WetGeek the ghost artifacts are strange in that picture above--but they are all warnings of some kind? what would cause plasma-browser-integration to crash I wonder? the act of waking?

                              So in this murky relationship between hibernation and a running browser there's some kind of conflict. You know all this already. Bug for sure, but whose I wonder? In theory waking from hibernation produces the identical state before machine was shut down. You've been pulling your hair out with this one for a while.
                              Was there any news upstream about this, etc I wonder?

                              edit: read a little bit. not uncommon. a browser only makes into a few threads about hibernation. I overlooked the fact you run VMs so I don't know if that's another factor with all the active parts of this?
