Zoom 6 stopped supporting Wayland?

Hi all, it seems that Zoom 6 is no longer supporting Wayland. Anyone found a workaround for this? Thanks.

lf-araujo That's a weird decision, seeing as Wayland is becoming more and more prevalent. So it does not work at all in a Wayland session now?

lf-araujo Obviously another workaround is to chose a X11 session at login instead of wayland.

Staudey No, it opens a small windows informing what is supported (X11).

Staudey It rather seems to be a temporary bug than an active decision do ditch wayland.

People here suggest:
The only workaround I've found is to run Zoom Web in Chromium (doesn't work in Firefox, would probably also work in Chrome). Chromium seems to use the correct window sharing protocol showing it works (it worked OK with the previous Fedora Zoom 5, but downgrading to that no longer allows log in to Zoom).

I've been following this issue for some time and reverting to x11 in meetings where I am expected to share screen. This is a major annoyance, because Wayland is soo much more smooth (and uses less laptop battery too, for some reason).

Apparently what happened is that zoom would work normally under Wayland when it was started with xwayland up to right before v6 was released. Now they decided to disable the xwayland option and the window is now only drawn natively. The environment variable will not activate xwayland composition, nor changing zoom.conf.

I wonder if anyone managed to trick Zoom v6 to run under xwayland?

lf-araujo https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0059085 they claim in 1/2024 that xorg fixes all these instances despite a huge group of internet/linux posters claiming the opposite...I dove into this for a while...they fix the wayland problem and then it breaks..they fix it then it breaks..repeat.
my only thoughts are that for a multi million $ company, they have a small linux crew..but we are a small share of the market.

Thanks, I tried all these and they are not currently allowing a screen share. I can share a browser tab, though.
