INSTALL ANY .deb package IN SOLUS OS

HOW TO INSTALL ANY .deb (DEBIAN/UBUNTU) PACKAGE TO eopkg(SOLUS LINUX) ???

#step by step:--

1/ Open your terminal(ctrl+shift+t) in linux system(in solus linux)

2/ type those command in your terminal:

sudo eopkg update-repo
sudo eopkg upgrade
sudo eopkg install dpkg
sudo eopkg install -c system.devel
sudo eopkg install binutils

3/ after installed in a successful manner ! type

sudo systemctl reboot

4/ after boot: download any .deb file from internet then open terminal again and
go to your file location using

pwd
cd ~/Downloads
cd .. 	[use this to back previous directory]
mkdir mydeb2eopkg
cp <your deb file name.deb> mydeb2eopkg   [it will copy that deb file into mydeb2eopkg directory/folder !!!remove<>!!!]
cd mydeb2eopkg  [to go in mydeb2eopkg directory]
sudo ar -xv <your deb file name.deb>

it will look like this:
x - debian-binary
x - control.tar.xz
x - data.tar.xz [or x - data.tar.gz]

5/ now , Create a data directory and unpack your data tar-archive there:

mkdir data
cp data.tar.xz data
tar -xvf data.tar.xz or tar -xf data.tar.xz

Now inside the data directory there will be directories usr, bin, lib, etc.
Next, you spread the entire structure along similar paths of your distribution. [JUST COPY PASTE !]

MY ADVICE TO RUN TWO SIDE BY SIDE FILE MANAGER AS ROOT PRIVILAGE
FRIST ONE IN THAT DATA DIRECTORY [STEP--5] AND 2ND FILE MANAGER TO MATCH WITH THE SYSTEM PATH FORM FOLLOW PATH
IN DATA DIRECTORY!

ahamedrashid-me You seem to have some extra steps in your instructions, e.g.

You don't have to install dpkg, and you don't use it in any of your later steps either as far as I can see
Installing the whole system.devel component should also not be necessary
The reboot after installing binutils should not be necessary
Not sure why you have the user run pwd, then switch to the Download folder, then back to $HOME (~). Simply switching to $HOME (just running cd) would do the same thing as those three steps. Though as users would most likely download the .deb files into ~/Downloads by default you might want to adjust the instructions so they copy the files from there and/or create the mydeb2eopkg directory in there instead
Creating a data directory, then extracting the data.tar.xz/gz archive into there is also not necessary as you can simply extract the data.tar.xz/gz as is

For completeness' sake you might also want to mention that the data.tar archive could also be a data.tar.zst file with zstd compression nowadays

I would be VERY careful about that, and never overwrite manually overwrite any system files. That's a surefire way to brick your system sooner or later.

Personally I would recommend looking into setting up the Solus packaging environment (https://help.getsol.us/docs/packaging), which will have higher up-front effort but will get you an easily reproducible process, with a resulting package that will warn about file conflicts (and prevent overwriting system package files), is easily installable/removable/updateable/etc., and the knowledge will transfer if you ever want to get into "real" packaging work.

There are a few packages in the repository proper that use .deb archives as their source, so you can adapt the recipes from there (e.g. vivaldi-stable or discord)

seems really risky, that's a lot of moving parts that don't belong together.
appimage or flatpak if I have to have it..

@ahamedrashid-me that was your 1st post on the forum, I wonder why do you interesting in installing .dep packages on Solus when we have native packages and flatpaks and also when it's not officially supported? BTW it is just Solus, no Solus Linux.
