On my Framework laptop, which has a weird native screen resolution, I have the following in my ~/.xprofile
file:
# Scale the screen down, works best at 200%.
#xrandr --output eDP-1 --scale '1.25x1.25'
xrandr --output eDP-1 --scale '1.5x1.5'
You can run xrandr
on its own from the terminal to find out the "connected" output to use for the --output
parameter.
As you can see, I tried 2 different scales, settled on 1.5.
The --scale
parameter is a bit weird, it sort of works the opposite of what you might be used to when setting fractional scaling, it reduces the zoom.
Not as convenient as having a fractional scaling setting in the control centre, as you have to log out and back in to see your changes, but once you've got it set to your liking, it's fine, and you don't need to mess with Qt/GTK/Font scaling environment variables.
Hope that helps.
